Why is it that people hail Freud as the founder of modern psychiatry, when he really just tried to convince people that their dream about sharks singing Vaudeville meant they wanted to have sex with their mother?

I have to say, I agree with it. Entirely.
"Patriot-one who is zealously supportive of their country’s authority and interests.
Nationalism-exalting one nation above all others.
Patriot + nationalism = perversion + militarism = [U.S.]
Patriotism and nationalism are one in the same, and I am neither. The U.S. Empire has exemplified the disastrous effect that happens when these combine. It uses reckless military action to protect its corporate interests, to expand them, to gain resources, to set up puppets, and to impose its will on the world. It allows atrocities to go unpunished, and willfully commits them (bombings of Dresden, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, agent orange in Vietnam, strikes against civilians in Vietnam, massacre at My Lai and other massacres, air strikes and shootings of civilians in Iraq). It also gives weapons and financial aid to corrupt and oppressive regimes in hopes of getting on their good side. It kills millions of innocent people in war and calls it “collateral damage”.
The government tries to cover up its crimes, to try and make us ignore them, by feeding us nonsense about freedom, by telling to say the pledge of allegiance and salute the flag, when they know full well we might as well be raising our arms and saying “Sieg heil!”. Another disturbing fact I left out, the U.S. has killed the most children of the past 100 years. Vietnam, 500,000-2,000,000; Panama, over 1,000; Iraq, over 300,000 and counting. Not to mention 1991.
They tell us “In God We Trust”. If God is bullets, bombs, money, and Halliburton, then yes. The U.S. has committed more crimes than any country I know.
I owe no allegiance to a terrorist government, one that invades countries and kills their people for money, influence, and oil. One that supports regimes worse than it is fighting against.
I will not accept the North American government until it is socialist.
Selfish war for money, influence, and “freedom” (imperialism) is not freedom, it's tyranny.
Death to Tyrants."

Lotta stuff going down. This weekend.
I'll be skipping a bit of Sunday's events to take my father to a Papal Mass, of course.
Anyway, this sounds REALLY fun.
I said it before after I went to Winter Comiket...cosplayers are crazy people.

So my dad's turning 50 this weekend, and I figure I should do something special for him. My father is the traditional Irish Catholic man, and...
Well, I'm sending him some money for a plane ticket from his place in San Diego to New York this weekend. I'm going to take him to the Papal Mass at Yankee Stadium Sunday.
Of course I'll be getting him something else, but that's the best present I could ever give him, I believe.

There's only one part about doing my taxes that I don't like. It's the part where they have to be done. Y'know what would help? The IRS needs an MMO where you grind up levels by staying on top of this shit throughout the year. Oh man, it'd be so great if they developed it internally. If they started now, it'd be done by 2020, have graphics from 2003 but require a top of the line system by 2020 standards, and have requirements like making your password no more than than eight but no fewer than twelve letters. Character customization would be a breeze. Just wave your government mandated RFID implant chip in front of the screen, get all of your private, financial, and biological info picked up by every RFID sniffer in a ten mile radius for the six thousandth time that day, and you're set! The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.

| Subject: | The LAPD |
| Security: | Public |
The LAPD is a force for good and light in the universe. Everyone hears about things like; the Rampart Division scandal, Mark Furhman, the Rodney King beating, Daryl Gates's inactivity during the crucial hours of the 1992 riots, the targeting of gays in public restrooms and alleged racial profiling, but I tell you the LAPD is nifty.
Why, just a week ago as I was walking to the corner store for Orange Juice, the LAPD showed their concern for my personal safety. I wasn't aware that there was a curfew in effect in certain neighborhoods of Los Angeles during school nights for those dastardly children under the age of 17, and being 21 I normally would not be worried about such a curfew. But the LAPD is so much the bastion of diligence, that they stopped me on my way back from the store with my orange juice and informed me that I was out after curfew. My astounded reply was that I was 21 and the curfew did not affect me, but once more the kindly LAPD officer was so concerned for my personal safety that he asked me for identification to prove it. Shame-faced because I had forgotten that I live in a Police State where my papers are required at all times, I allowed the jovial gent in blue to follow me home where I presented him with two forms of valid ID. Thank god they're out there patrolling the street!
Nor is this the only example I can give of the LAPD's sterling efficiency and service. Not two years ago, I was wickedly sneaking around an expensive neighborhood in a white linen shirt. I thought I was clever because I chose to walk down a well-lit street with moderate traffic. But the LAPD was on to me. Their officers stopped me, frisked me and had me face down on the concrete in no time, because apparently my nefarious evil twin had committed a convenience store robbery a scant six miles away. Ah, they realized that if I were to commit a robbery, I'd certainly be on-foot on Third Street wearing a white shirt, hiding in plain sight! Once I finally convinced them that I was walking to my friend's house from a club, they raced off to find the real culprit, and I was able to rest easy because they would not cease their search until the crime was solved.
And even before that incident I can think of times where the LAPD was out to protect and serve just like the motto on their car doors. There was the time some friends and I were pulled over in a silver Toyota Previa that was playing "Girls Just wanna have fun" because of "suspected gang activity". The canny officers knew that minivans were common vehicles among low-riders and thugs. Despite the fact that the passengers in the van were; a black boy in glasses and a green polo shirt, a Samoan in a red jersey, a Filipino in grey and a blond/blue-eyed waif from Nebraska who was wearing pink, and the only gang that I could think of that we could all possibly belong to would require us to shout something silly like "Blue Octopus Lasersword Power," the officers were not fooled by our cunning and saw us right away for the underworld sleazebags we were.
God Bless the LAPD! Shantih Shantih Shantih!

Am I correct that bags of flour are used for that parenting exercise in some schools, or is that just something I saw on television? It would make sense, they're about the appropriate size and weight.
In my school we used eggs. The teacher would initial the bottom, and then you had to carry it with you for a week, and keep it safe. We were allowed to build carrying containers for the egg-babies, and I went a little overboard and built a little wooden box lined with a steel latch and enough padding that you could toss the thing down a flight of stairs and the egg would be just fine.
My egg survived the entire week, so clearly I've got the parenting thing down. If I ever have children, I know exactly what kind of carrying-box to build.
Unrelated, but I love RSV2's Team Leader mode.

So, yesterday I went off to the moon.
Or England.
Either way, aliens, amirite?
I always get the two confused.
And there I met Roland Ravenstone.
I found him a tail
And things with hoodies on showed up
We plasmaed them with guns and electricity and fire and ice
And they died
I covered the Parliament floors with broken glass
And forced a vomit-covered corpse onto Madam Justice
And almost fell off the Old Bailey
THAT IS ALL READ AND COMMENT KTHX :D

Yesterday was lunch with the extended family, and one of my cousins asked me about Tape Busters because her son is at the age where "everything paranormal is cool." I have no problems with this beyond a bit of self-consciousness at TB coming up at the table, but I do feel obligated to draft this paragraph as a disclaimer for if any of my nephews end up joining Rings:
Hi, Mike, and welcome to Rings! Please ignore anything your Uncle Alex writes about pornography, it's all a joke and you shouldn't believe anything he says. Tell your mom that your uncle is a good, innocent Catholic boy who just likes to make silly jokes online and is in no way whatsoever a bad influence on you.
Please?

Well, Takahashi's liaisons arrived at Seattle base today. I couldn't be there in person, but I've got someone there to stand in.
From what's been reported, they've been non-hostile so far.
Anyway...gotta meet with the clerk presiding over the wedding tomorrow. Later.

Well, as many from Rings will surely know, the Tape Busters and the Church of Sadako have initiated a ceasefire in order to bring down Umi. I have my doubts, but I've prepared for the scenario of a double-cross.
Also, the wedding's on Sunday.

Well...Luke's funeral was today. It was terrible. Natsuki was there with me...
Damn it, Umi's gonna pay. I'm sick of these horrible things he's done...He cursed the team of five Tape Busters I sent over there. He killed my brother. He killed someone I could consider a friend, or at the very least a colleague. He nearly killed Caleb. He killed Athina...
I can't deal with this right now.
